Jean holds degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, School of Public Health. She has a broad range of experience: pediatric neurosurgery, psychiatry, community health, employee/occupational medicine, family medicine, and student health.

Jean has chosen to focus on college health because its an opportunity to contribute to the academic mission: to teach undergraduates how to care for themselves, offer information about health, lifestlyes, and to help the older students cope with a variety of health issues. Her primary responsibilities surround day to day operations - making sure "the system" works for the students. She is currently serving as treasurer of the American College Health Association.
