After losing her husband to colon cancer 9 years ago and leaving a long standing career in procurement services in the furniture and parachute industry due to downsizing, Juanita decided it was time for a change.  She enrolled in Southside Virginia Community College as a full-time student and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Systems Technology in August of 2005.  It was during that time that she discovered how enjoyable it was to study and help fellow students.  Upon graduating, Juanita left Virginia for Timberlake, North Carolina.  Juanita came to Duke Student Health because she enjoys helping and working with college students.  She feels that she can offer students support and guidance to help prepare them for a bright and successful future.  In her spare time, Juanita enjoys gardening, horticulture, bowling and spending time with family, friends and her little dog, Teddy Bear.
