Janice Simmerson has lived in North Carolina for 20 years.  The last four of those years were spent living in Rougemont, North Carolina.  She has worked as a Medical Licensed Practical Nurse (MLPN) for over 29 years.  Janice was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she also studied nursing.  She has worked as a MLPN at Duke for the last 10 years in the areas of geriatrics, family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.  Janice really enjoys her job at Duke Student Health and considers working with young people a highlight.  She also thinks Duke Student Health has an awesome staff that’s great to work with.  Janice takes care of two dogs, which she considers her children – Diamond, a Rottweiler and Ruger, a Doberman. Janice enjoys cooking. In her spare time, she loves the beach, the mountains, football and sports cars.  She enjoys riding motorcycles and attending motorcycle races.  In fact, Janice has visited race tracks in Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia.
