Dr. David Mellinger was born and raised in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.  After attending Swarthmore College and earning a bachelor of arts in chemistry, Dr. Mellinger moved to Richmond, Virginia to teach high school chemistry.  After teaching for three years, Dr. Mellinger attended medical school at the University of Virginia.  He subsequently completed a residency program in pediatric and adolescent medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  

The following ten years, Dr. Mellinger served as a faculty member and healthcare provider in University Health Services at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  He left Madison, Wisconsin to serve as Medical Director of College Health Services at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  Dr. Mellinger recently moved to Durham, North Carolina and accepted a position as a Healthcare Provider for Duke Student Health Services.  He looks forward to seeing patients and teaching residents and medical students in the clinical setting.

Dr. Mellinger has an interest in men’s health, management of type 1 diabetes and camp medicine.  He enjoys assisting patients with a variety of health issues.  In his free time, he likes to travel, cook and participate in outdoor activities and sports, particularly volleyball.
