Melanie is from Vermont, but has resided in Durham for the last 13 years.  After completing her undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University, Melanie attended Medical School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Duke University.  Melanie is married with two children.  She also cares for two cats, a Guinea pig and some goldfish.  Melanie loves working in Student Health because it allows her to focus on her medical interests – women’s health, family planning, sports medicine, dermatology and urgent care. She enjoys being a primary care provider for students because of the unique opportunities to help newly independent health care consumers navigate a complex health care system.  In her free time, Melanie enjoys biking, kayaking, reading, perennial gardening and playing with her family.
