Healthy Holiday Eating

  1. Don’t Party Hungry:
Eat a light snack such as fruit, cereal, soup, or yogurt before parties.  The effects of alcohol are felt more on an empty stomach and can lead to overeating and overdrinking.

  2. Balance Your Plate:
Don’t try to cut out the holiday treats – choose small portions and balance your plate with fruit and vegetables.
  1. Limit alcohol:
If you choose to drink, drink 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages and then switch to water or another non caloric beverage.

  2. Be Active:
Even when things get hectic, take time for yourself to move your body daily. Sign up for a Fun Run around the holidays or organize a flag football game after dinner.

  3. Enjoy:
Holidays involve being with friends and family and having good food.  Remember these tips, but don’t focus on food – focus on the conversation and time spent with loved ones.
