Health Promotion

Condom DemoThe mission of the Office of Health Promotion is to encourage students to identify the benefits of and need for healthy lifestyle choices, through promotion of comprehensive mind/body wellness, timely marketing and ongoing direct interaction with students, by supporting the development of a campus community that enables those choices.

The Office of Health Promotion hopes to increase student's knowledge about, and awareness of, both positive and negative health behaviors and how these may impact long-term well-being.

  • On East, you'll find us in the Oasis, in Bell Tower Hall.
  • On West, we're in Student Health Center off of Flowers Drive.
But most often, we're with you on campus, promoting positive health behaviors and having a lot of fun.
  • We're there at Orientation presenting True Blue.
  • We're the people that might meet you at the bus stop with promotional items.
  • We're the ones riding the buses to share health information.
  • We're the people that put up the body image displays and encourage you to Embrace Your True Self.
  • We're the ones that created and operate The Oasis; a place to come and relax.

But, we couldn't do any of these things without the support of many other departments; CAPS, The Women's Center, Academic Advising, Resident Life and Housing, Physical Education, Physical Therapy, Dining and many more. Our goal is to be everywhere.

So keep an eye out for us, we'd love to see you around.

Healthy Devil Peer Educators offer much of, but not all of the programming offered through the Office of Health Promotion.

Why do you want to provide programming?

  • It's a great opportunity to get to know your residents/members.
  • It will help your residents/members get to know their neighbors.
  • It provides up-to-date and valuable information on pertinent health topics.
  • It's way FUN!
  • It gets your residents out of their rooms and interacting with people they may not know.
  • It helps you find out more about your dorm or organization -the likes/dislikes, norms, values, etc.
  • It helps you show your interest in providing for the well-being of your residents/members.
  • It helps inform residents/members of services available on campus.
  • It helps to provide useful information to assist in risk management.
