Staffing and Services
The GYN Clinic provides education about women's health issues and routine gynecological care, including an annual Pap smear. Available services include:
Clinical services
- Birth control prescriptions
- Emergency contraception prescriptions
- Colposcopy
- Pregnancy testing
- Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
- Referral services
- Clinical breast exams
- Information on disease prevention
- Counseling for lesbian and bisexual health concerns
Note: Specialty Gynecologic services (i.e. colposcopy, IUD insertion) are available but NOT covered by the Student Health fee.
Health education services
- Contraceptive counseling
- Pregnancy options counseling
- Education about sexually transmitted infections, including HIV
- Education about abnormal Pap smears, HPV and colposcopy
- Instruction in breast self-exam
Women who have not previously received a GYN exam are encouraged to schedule a Women’s Health Information Session with a Health Education Specialist at Student Health before their first GYN appointment. To make an appointment for a Women’s Health Information Session, call 919-681-WELL, and ask to schedule an appointment with Lindsey Bickers Bock. The Women’s Health Information Session can be scheduled for the same day as your clinic appointment, or they can be scheduled independently.
Any students who have concerns about reproductive health issues may schedule an appointment to see a Health Education Specialist one-on-one at the Student Health Center. To make an appointment, call 919-681-WELL and ask to schedule an appointment with Lindsey Bickers Bock. You may request an appointment to discuss birth control options, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, HPV, abnormal Pap smears, safer sex, pregnancy options, or any other reproductive health issue that may be affecting you.
