Duke Student Health Center is open year round, however, hours may be reduced during semester breaks and summer sessions. The lab does not accept medical orders or prescriptions written by a family member of a student/patient.
Staffing and Services
The Duke Student Health Center Laboratory is staffed by certified medical technologists. The lab is cerified by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).
You are responsible for asking in advance whether or not services are covered by the Student Health fee. A listing of covered services is kept at the laboratory.
Most routine laboratory studies ordered by Student Health providers, if medically necessary and ordered in association with a covered professional visit, are covered by the Student Health fee. HIV testing is covered under the Student Health fee. Call 681-WELL for an appointment.
Some lab tests are NOT covered by the health fee and will be submitted to your insurance company for payment. Tests ordered by outside providers are also not covered.
