Nutrition Services Mission Statement:

The mission of Nutrition Services at Duke Student Health is to encourage an environment that educates, supports and facilitates a student’s ability to develop life long healthy eating behaviors; to offer a nutritious and appealing food environment that allows students to nourish their bodies while they feed their minds; to provide a high level of clinical assessment and caring treatment for those in need; to educate students by implementing ongoing campus wide nutrition initiatives and to work collaboratively with other support organizations in order to deliver the highest level of nutrition services possible.

Services:

Student Health offers comprehensive nutrition services that are covered by the student health fee. Services range from dietary intervention for high cholesterol, high triglycerides, diabetes or hypertension to dealing with disordered eating concerns, sports performance issues or simply a consultation on how to improve your diet for long-term health.

Student Health dietitians can be reached at 681-WELL (681-9355) for an appointment with Nancy Morgridge, RD, LD at the Student Health Center or Toni Apadula, R.D. at The Oasis. Franca Alphin, MPH, R.D., 613-7486, takes new appointments by referral only and sees patients at the Wilson Center.

Initial consultations are one hour and follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes. For immediate dietary assistance, check out our online nutrition resources for some great information.
