Mission

The mission of DELISH is to increase awareness of sexual health issues, change negative misperceptions and stereotypes of sexual behavior, expand and broaden the definition of positive sexuality, and support a campus culture that promotes positive, healthy sexual practices and dialogue.

DELISH members serve as peer educators for the Duke community addressing health topics such as sexual health and safer sex, contraception, prevention of unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted disease, positive sexual communication, sex roles and stereotypes, gender role socialization, and the connection of these topics to other health and campus issues.

Goals and Objectives

  1. To promote DELISH as a self sufficient, student led organization with SHC Health Promotion staff serving as mentors, instructors and advisors.
  2. To provide accurate and timely information on sexual health and related topics through outreach programming and individual services to the campus community.
  3. To challenge sexual health misconceptions through the use of the Student Health Center and Health Promotion offices, the peer education program itself, and the use of outreach, education and media campaigns.
  4. To be recognized as campus leaders, and have increased visibility in the field of sexual health and sexuality on campus.
