MINDS
Mental Issues and Needs of Duke Students
In 2004, the MINDS group was added to the Healthy Devil peer education program. These students were brought together by a common interest in mental health awareness.
The students in MINDS are dedicated to changing the mental health environment at Duke by encouraging open discussions about these issues. By providing outreach education and organizing special events like Sleep Awareness and Stress Management Week, MINDS works to:
- Promote awareness.
- Eliminate stigma.
- Educate regarding mental health issues.
- Provide information for support and resources.
Mission
The mission of MINDS is to promote positive mental health for Duke students; and to provide and support mental health advocacy on campus with committed certified peer educators, professional advisors, and other on-campus resources.
MINDS members serve as peer educators for the Duke community addressing mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, stigma, sleep and the connection of these topics to other health and campus issues.Goals and Objectives
