PATH
Planning And Tracking your Health

Important change: PATH is now a part of the Duke Prospective Health Care Club.

PATH is moving homes.  Beginning Fall 2009, it will become part of the Duke Prospective Health Care Club, instead of remaining a Healthy Devils Peer Education group.

For the past two years, the mission of PATH has been to engage Duke students in the evolving area of prospective health care (PHC), which focuses on individual health promotion and disease prevention.  Th key to enabling PHC is greater individual responsibility and strategic health planning (i.e. short- and lon-term strategies focused on diet, exercise and lifestyle habits that promote one's health and well-being and ideally prevent disease.

While PATH has done well as a Healthy Devils group, shifts within the university have lead to the decision that PATH's mission and supporting initiatives could be better accomplished by becoming part of the Duke Prospective Health Care Club, which is entering its fifth year as an official Duke student organization and is the first club of its kind in the nation.

Currently, PATH's main projects include the development of a web-based tool for undergraduates to track and then strategize dietary habits and the creation of interview-style videos which capture diverse Duke student perspectives on health and well-being.  Both of these projects are new and would benefit from individuals who are innovative, self-motivated, and passionate about health.

If you were interested in PATH and don't mind joinig a different student organization whcih will focus on the same concepts of individual health promotion and disease prevention, please contact Ziggy Yoediono, MD, MBA at yoedi0001@mc.duke.edu and put "Interest in PATH" in the subject line.  If you'd rather join Healthy Devils, we'd ask that you consider your interest(s) in one of the othe groups: DELISH, ESTEEM, MINDS or STAR
